It's no surprise that I've been tracking our trip expenses. Every single cup of coffee, plane ticket, late-night ice cream purchase has been entered and reported. Here's a breakdown of our first month's expenses on the road in Colombia and Ecuador.

We paid $42 per night to stay in this amazing, three-story apartment from airbnb.com. Situated in El Poblado, one of Medellin's trendiest neighborhoods, this was the perfect place to spend a week.
It feels good to be kicking our budget's ass this much. We feel like we're really splurging, but that's taking on a different meaning here. Sitting on the street outside of a hostel drinking crap canned beer while the sun slowly slips below the horizon feels exceedingly satisfying. It feels like enough to do in one evening.
